Summer has finally arrived and we’re celebrating the Memorial Day Weekend with a cocktail that is low-cal and super delicious! We’re making an iced tea/lemonade that packs a punch…we call it the KITL (like Skittles).

Makes 2 cocktails

4 oz of Marker’s Mark

2 oz of Grand Marnier

1 cup of Turkey Hill diet iced tea

1 cup of Tropicana Light Lemonade

Lemons slices for garnish

Fill a couple of large glasses with ice and divide the ingredients into each of them, and stir. Garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy! This is the perfect drink for a hot summer afternoon, a picnic or a BBQ. If you want to make a pitcher, just adjust the ingredients x4.

The Oval Office gets a makeover!

The Oval Office has a new look! Revamped while the first family was on vacation, updates to the office include new furniture, paint, and wallpaper, all in more neutral, brown and taupe colors. Did you know that most presidents redecorate the Oval Office? Let’s see how the styles of the last three presidents stack up:

CLINTON:

With red-striped couches, gold curtains, and a dark blue rug, Clinton was clearly not afraid of color:

BUSH:

Here we see a lot of yellows and cremes. The furniture is American-classic:

OBAMA:

Our current president has chosen a sleeker, more modern look, with lots of neutral colors and comfy couches:

I think Obama’s office looks the most homey and inviting…which style do you like the best???

The iconic cheap couch turns 30.

1979 is an excellent vintage in both the world of humankind and upholstery-kind. Your humble blogger is turning 30 in less than a month, and now I’ve been tipped off, by Apartment Therapy, that I share a birth year with Ikea’s Klippan sofa as well. Anyone who’s ever had a dorm room or studio apartment knows the allure of the humble Klippan: it’s small, affordable and offers a bunch of interchangeable slip covers for commitment-phobes. This brief video shows the evolution of the Klippan (although, sadly, it doesn’t feature the traffic-cone orange version that graced my first post-collegiate apartment circa 2001).
