In our third Favor!te Things installment, I’m pleased to present Joseph’s (YIL contributor, publicist extraordinaire and wearer of thigh-highs) 2009 picks.
Favor!te Film: It’s a dead tie between Where the Wild Things Are and The September Issue, which I’ve already discussed.

Favor!te Album: Nellie McKay’s Normal as Blueberry Pie. She divine.
Favor!te Concert: Semi-Precious Weapons. I’ve seen them live probably 5 times in 09 and they get better every time. My favorite show was the one they played in the courtyard of the Hudson Hotel in NYC. They are now on tour with Lady Gaga.
Favor!te Book: I re-read Call Me by Your Name by Andre Aciman. He’s a breathtaking story teller.
Favor!te Art Show: Noah Scalin’s Skull exhibit at Quirk Gallery in Richmond was pretty brilliant. His book was pretty cool too.
Favor!te Fashion Trend: I’m just really happy that color seems to be universally okay again. Even in New York. As I mentioned before I’d get a sex change to wear these shoes.
Favor!te TV show: 30 Rock reigns supreme, but as far as new shows go, I’m loving ABC’s Modern Family.

Our Favor!te Things 2009: Camilla Morton
We’ve been informed that the end of 2009 is just around the corner, and since absolutely no one else is offering “Best Of” lists, we decided to fill the void. Between now and the new year, expect year-end favor!tes from our friends in the world of fashion, music, comedy, film and literature.
Today’s inaugural Favor!te Things 2009 list comes from the delightful Camilla Morton, fashion writer, author and arbiter of good taste.
Without further ado, Camilla Morton’s Favor!te Things 2009:
Favor!te Film: I am literally besides myself with excitement to see WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE but until then THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE gives a slice of the day job.
Favor!te Album: I like songs and then jam them on repeat but do like a good Disney Sing along – Cinderella, “Someday My Prince will Come”– great way to start the day… I am more of a hummer than a album collector… I also shift music tastes like the wind, as the mood changes so do I…
Favor!te Book: It’s not a new release – I will have to think with that – but a book that I never travel or leave home without, and, in my opinion, is the most charming story ever is The Ordinary Princess, by MM Kaye. It’s out of print but worth the hunt.
Favor!te Work of Art: The Christmas Tree at Claridge’s designed by John Galliano… viewed as you have afternoon tea there… I agree with Spencer Tracy who said, “I don’t want to go to Heaven I want to go to Claridge’s.”

Who can you ever choose between John Galliano and Manolo Blahnik? The two go together like tea and scones…
Favor!te TV show:
My guilty pleasure is the English Soap Opera Eastenders – you think you’ve had a bad day, and twenty minutes of this you feel glad to be you… love a bit of East end misery on Albert Square and Christmas isn’t Christmas without a trip to see how theirs goes wrong (death and damnation and all before the turkey has been so much as sliced).

The Wild Things on the Really Small Screen
If you’ve been watching color television, or reading your local newspaper or even frequenting incredibly informative blogs, you probably know by now that the film adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s killer children’s book Where the Wild Things Are is premiering next week. What you might not know, unless you’re a regular visitor to We Love You So, is that the movie’s iPhone app is now available for no cost (other than the time it takes to download it from the app store).
I’ve been pelting Carol with dirt clumps (and incurring his wild wrath), watching trailers, and listening to songs from the Karen O soundtrack. Just what I needed to hold me over until the incredible ‘making of’ book comes out next Tuesday and the movie releases on Friday!

Where the Wild Old Men Are
We’re incredibly excited for the film adaptation of everyone’s favorite children’s book Where The Wild Things Are this October. Spike Jonze+Dave Eggers+Maurice Sendak= a potential masterpiece.
To keep us satiated until then, the kind folks on the production team have created an eclectic, amusing blog called We Love You So that chronicles the team’s obsessions and diversions. It ranges from musings on Masonic rituals to an endorsement of one of our favorite authors, Charles Bukowski. So until the movie finally hits theaters, we’re keeping busy finding out more about what makes these creative folks tick.
